For the Year of Pig (2019), I was commissioned by FOLKSIGHT to design a set of illustrations for merchandise. Set in a fantasized feudal time, the illustrations depict the dreams of Vietnamese women. With the intention of expressing gender equality, the pieces depict women in various social roles (a wife, a daugher-in-law, a big sister, or a maid) showing who they really are as opposed to performing the traditional duties of the household. The artworks reveal how the women express their creativity, talents, desires and leisure. The settings were inspired by Vietnamese folkart design.
