Viet Spirits and Patterns
Client: FOLKSIGHT
Production: Folktales Art House

In late 2019, I was commissioned by Folktales Art House, an illustration-led studio in Hanoi, to design a collection of artworks inspired by Vietnamese royal art from historical dynasties. The designs were soon used as patterns on silk, art prints, zip pouches and postcards at FOLKSIGHT, an art and craft shop in the center of Hanoi. While inspired by traditional patterns, the artworks intend to add a modern flare thereby creating something new. The “Viet Spirits and Patterns” collection is an art project that has the mission of preserving not only the essence of the past but also pride of the present.
Artwork Applications
The inspiration of the project came mainly from the royal art of ancient Vietnamese dynasties, including the House of Nguyen, the House of Le, and the House of Ly-Tran.
